Hollywood superstar Johnny Depp will play second fiddle to Notebook star Ryan Gosling in the big screen re-telling of the classic tale, The Lone Ranger.
Gosling will play the masked renegade in the movie adaptation of the radio and TV serial and Depp will play his faithful sidekick, Tonto, reported Huffington Post online.
The film will be produced by Disney and directed by Gore Verbinski, the Pirates of the Caribbean helmer who just made another western film with Depp in Rango, the animated comedy that made a big box office splash back in March.
But Gosling’s part in the film has been thrown into tizzy due to scheduling conflicts. The 32-year-old actor has already signed on to play the titular character in another remake, Logan’s Run and both films are aiming for a fall shoot date.
Currently, Gosling is filming The Ides of March with George Clooney and will next appear on the big screen as a ladies’ man in the Steve Carell comedy, Crazy, Stupid Love. He’s also been offered a part in the upcoming crime-and-punishment film with Sean Penn, Gangster Squad.
His film Drive with Carey Mulligan and Christina Hendricks, will compete at the Cannes Film Festival.
