Jennifer Lopez Wants $20 Million Raise To Stick With American Idol

A JLo-Free American Idol could become a reality if producers of the longrunning FOX talent show can’t fork over the $20 million annual salary the Latin superstar is requesting before she agrees to sign on the dotted line for Season 11, according to a new report.

The “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” hitmaker is reportedly eyeing a starring role on new reality show, produced by Idol creator Simon Fuller, that will see her scouring Latin America with her salsa singer hubby, Marc Anthony, in search of the next Pitbull or Shakira. Though Jennifer has publicly stated that she’s still considering whether or not to return as a judge on Idol next season, National Enquirer Gossip Guy Mike Walker cites a snoop who says the show has a better chance of keeping PEOPLE’s 2011 Most Beautiful Person on the team if they add a cool $7 million to the $12 million a year they’re already paying her.

Walker writes in the tab’s May 2 issue: “Industry insiders concede diva Lopez drove this season’s skyrocketing ratings and Idol honchos are literally at her mercy. ‘They’ll have to do whatever it takes to keep her happy,’ said my source. ‘Her new contract’s their major priority. They’ll have to come up with megabucks to appease Steven Tyler as well, but he only makes about half of what Jennifer earns.’”

Jennifer was mum on contract talks, but sounded optimistic about signing up for more Idol during an interview with host Ryan Seacrest last week.

“…Here’s what’s the great thing about this moment [is] for me. There’s tons of possibilities, and I’m open to whatever God has in store for me down the line. And whatever it is, I’m going to do my best.”
